Duties & Responsibilities of the Fire Department Staff
The normal duties and responsibilities of the fire chief and staff include:
- Annual budget items for equipment/apparatus purchases
- Command and control of major incidents
- Customer service, media releases, and community interaction
- Health and wellness program
- Personnel management and supervision, employee evaluation, and discipline
- Operating under policies and procedures in daily operations and on emergency scenes
- Reporting of incidents, emergency medical data collection, and record management
- Strategic planning
- Pre-planning for emergency responses
- Travel approval
- In-house Training
- Outside training scheduling
- Equipment/station maintenance
