Duties & Responsibilities of the Fire Department Staff

The normal duties and responsibilities of the fire chief and staff include:

  • Annual budget items for equipment/apparatus purchases
  • Command and control of major incidents
  • Customer service, media releases, and community interaction
  • Health and wellness program
  • Personnel management and supervision, and employee evaluation and discipline
  • Operating under policies and procedures in daily operations and on emergency scenes
  • Reporting of incidents, emergency medical data collection, and record management
  • Strategic planning
  • Pre-planning for emergency responses
  • Travel approval
  • In house Training
  • Outside training scheduling
  • Equipment / station maintenance
